In response to Mr. Hefley's post, I shall go ahead and make my first mark in this community. I've been watching for a little while having just found the community a few weeks ago. I'm a life-long resident of Ames and have followed Frankenixon for years now and dearly love them. I find it exciting now that I'm off at college (all the long way to ISU) and have friends who are being exposed to Frankenixon and other local bands of the area for the first time. And now, just a few weeks ago I have witnessed some of their exposure on a more national/worldwide level on Pitchfork. I was looking through the "free downloads" section and stumbled upon Frankenixon's 'Impasse' (as well as The Envy Corps' 'Prisoners of War'). If you are perusing the site looking at reviews and such you might also run into an add for Amorphous. It's so great to watch them grow and see what I love so much finally being shared with so many.

If it weren't for pitchfork how would we know what emerging mainstream indie is worth listening to? ;) I've been listening to Impasse for the last few days and I'm hooked. Only reason I really decided to was because I saw all the fliers around ames last month and then i saw that that show was cancelled so I was kinda bummed. Oh well, they'll do another show. Hopefully the mshop schedule for this year will be better. *Fingers crossed*
